"Safeguarding Kenya's Youth. Defending Article 37 Exposing State Terrorism,

Protecting Kenya’s Future."

50+ Million Kenyans is a citizen-led movement united against authoritarian overreach, systemic violence, and the misuse of anti-terror laws to silence dissent. The movement begun in response to the violent suppression of the June 25 and July 7, 2025, protests against police brutality and the extrajudicial killings of young protesters in June 2024 and Albert Ojwang in June 2025. Dozens were killed, hundreds physically and sexually assualted, injured, and peaceful demonstrators demanding justice have since been charged with terrorists and other serious crimes.

Our Mission is urgent,

to secure the unconditional release of all peaceful protesters falsely accused under Kenya’s Prevention of Terrorism Act, to hold state agents accountable for unlawful violence, and to ensure the Constitution remains a living document—not an empty promise.

  1. Secure the safety and release of all peaceful protesters falsely accused of terrorism and other serious crimes following the June and July 2025 demonstrations against police brutality
  2. Demand justice for wrongful arrests, physical and sexual assault, psychological harm, and the social impact of State misconduct, State-sanctioned terror, malicious prosecution, and failure in the Responsibility to Protect.
  3. Hold state agents accountable for violations against the Constitution and particularly in negligent conduct in failing to hold the real perpertrators of violence accountable for the terror, loss and damage experienced on the sidelinees of the peaceful protests in June and July, 2025.
  4. Aggregate evidence of unlawful violence against protesters, suspects in custody, state-sponsored attackers targeting demonstrators seeking justice for Albert Ojwang and other victims, journalists, human rights defenders, grieving mothers, innocent Kenyans, and property nationwide between June and August 2025; and evidence of Government involvbement in the commissioning and protection of goons.
  5. Defend the constitutional right of every Kenyan to protest peacefully against without fear of being labeled a terrorist

A Kenya where the rule of law prevails,

democratic freedoms are protected, and no citizen fears unlawful detention, police brutality, or political persecution for demanding justice and accountability.

A Kenya where young people can demand justice for their comrades without being labeled terrorists, and where peaceful protest is met with dialogue, and action, not violence.

Our core principles,

Truth — Expose state-sanctioned violence, prosecutorial misconduct, and propaganda.

Justice — Demand accountability for extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and wrongful prosecutions—including justice for Albert Ojwang and the young protesters killed in June 2024, and an end to the criminalization of those seeking accountability.

Freedom — Defend the constitutional rights of every Kenyan to speak, protest, and organize without fear.

Solidarity — Build alliances between civil society, media, legal bodies, and international human rights organizations.

Our Work & Values

We act quickly, strategically, and visibly to counter authoritarian tactics. Our work focuses on four pillars:

  1. Legal Defense & Justice
  • Securing the release of all 38 protesters wrongly charged as terrorists.
  • Challenging unconstitutional orders such as “shoot-to-kill” and “shoot-to-maim.”
  • Filing complaints against prosecutorial misconduct and human rights violations.
  • Exploring regional and international court actions to protect victims of state abuse.
  1. Exposing State Terrorism
  • Documenting evidence of police brutality, enforced disappearances, and state-sponsored attacks on civilians.
  • Investigating the hiring of armed thugs by government offices to assault protesters and journalists.
  • Countering propaganda that brands peaceful demonstrators as looters or criminals.
  1. International Advocacy
  • Engaging the African Union, East African Community, UN bodies, and diplomatic missions to apply pressure on Kenya’s leadership.
  • Publishing evidence and testimonies in global media outlets.
  • Building a coalition of regional and global human rights defenders.
  1. Public Awareness & Mobilization
  • Social media campaigns using #WhoIsTheRealTerrorist and other targeted hashtags.
  • Producing documentaries, photo essays, and infographics showing the reality on the ground.
  • Organizing solidarity events, press briefings, and public forums.

confronting state terrorism

The Ruto administration has turned the tools of the state—police, prosecutors, and propaganda—against its own people, using violence and fear to preserve power.

State-Sponsored Terrorism

From hiring violent gangs to disrupt civil society gatherings to physically attacking grieving mothers at the Kenya Human Rights Commission offices, the government is enabling and funding acts of terror against civilians.

Weaponization of Anti-Terror Laws

The Prevention of Terrorism Act—meant to combat extremist threats—is now being used to jail peaceful protesters and journalists. This mirrors past abuses like the “Usalama Watch” crackdown and risks fueling further radicalization.
