50+ Million Kenyans is a citizen-led movement united against authoritarian overreach, systemic violence, and the misuse of anti-terror laws to silence dissent. The movement begun in response to the violent suppression of the June 25 and July 7, 2025, protests against police brutality and the extrajudicial killings of young protesters in June 2024 and Albert Ojwang in June 2025. Dozens were killed, hundreds physically and sexually assualted, injured, and peaceful demonstrators demanding justice have since been charged with terrorists and other serious crimes.
to secure the unconditional release of all peaceful protesters falsely accused under Kenya’s Prevention of Terrorism Act, to hold state agents accountable for unlawful violence, and to ensure the Constitution remains a living document—not an empty promise.

democratic freedoms are protected, and no citizen fears unlawful detention, police brutality, or political persecution for demanding justice and accountability.
A Kenya where young people can demand justice for their comrades without being labeled terrorists, and where peaceful protest is met with dialogue, and action, not violence.

Truth — Expose state-sanctioned violence, prosecutorial misconduct, and propaganda.
Justice — Demand accountability for extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and wrongful prosecutions—including justice for Albert Ojwang and the young protesters killed in June 2024, and an end to the criminalization of those seeking accountability.
Freedom — Defend the constitutional rights of every Kenyan to speak, protest, and organize without fear.
Solidarity — Build alliances between civil society, media, legal bodies, and international human rights organizations.
We act quickly, strategically, and visibly to counter authoritarian tactics. Our work focuses on four pillars:
The Ruto administration has turned the tools of the state—police, prosecutors, and propaganda—against its own people, using violence and fear to preserve power.
From hiring violent gangs to disrupt civil society gatherings to physically attacking grieving mothers at the Kenya Human Rights Commission offices, the government is enabling and funding acts of terror against civilians.
The Prevention of Terrorism Act—meant to combat extremist threats—is now being used to jail peaceful protesters and journalists. This mirrors past abuses like the “Usalama Watch” crackdown and risks fueling further radicalization.
